Great device. Love it.
This device is well made and works great! A few tips for usage: use distilled water (it's cheap) it will not stain the base with minerals like tap water does. I have hard boiled and poached many eggs, have not bothered with the omelet dish. For hard boiled eggs, fill the plastic water container to the top. If you want a softer yolk, fill it about 2/3 full. Any less risks it being runny. For poached eggs, do not follow the directions or you will have a runny mess. Fill the container to the hard level or higher. This will give you perfect poached eggs. Also, take a fork and stab the raw yolk so it spreads out, otherwise it will be too similar to a soft-boiled egg. And be sure to coat the dish with vegetable spray before poaching, makes removal of the egg and clean up a breeze. Ignore people who say the device breaks easily or is cheaply made. The base is solid and the plastic trays are just fine. Not super sturdy but they are fine. I love this thing and use it several times a week. Enjoy!

Easy-peel hard-boiled eggs!
When I first saw this item I thought it was kind of silly. How hard is it to hard boil an egg? But then I stumbled upon an article in Cook's Illustrated magazine that said that the key to easy-peel hard boiled eggs is to steam, not boil them. And steaming is exactly what this cooker does. I'm now making perfect, easy-to-peel hard-boiled eggs. Here's what's working for me, using large, not jumbo, eggs: The cooker comes with a little plastic measuring cup which I fill with water to the 'hard' line. Pour the water into the cooker's tray, set the egg holder in and put in up to seven eggs, cover, and turn it on. The switch will light, and the cooker will boil the water you've put in, steaming the eggs. While it's cooking, get a bowl ready with enough ice water to cover the eggs after you remove them from the cooker. In about ten minutes the water will be boiled off and the light in the switch will turn off. Remove the cover, and place the eggs into the ice water. Leave them in the ice water long enough to get good and cold, and you're done. You should now have perfectly cooked easy-to-peel eggs. You can adjust the doneness of the eggs by using more or less water, or by leaving them in the cooker for a couple of minutes after the light goes out. Since timing is critical to the doneness of the eggs, the one improvement I'd suggest is a beep-beep-beep when the water has evaporated and the light has gone out. Without audible notification, it's necessary to keep an eye on the switch if you don't want overdone eggs. I like just barely fully-cooked yolks, and that's what I've been getting. But, as I said, it does entail keeping an eye on the switch. I'm pretty happy with this little mini-appliance. It's working exactly as I was hoping it would. No more tedious peeling, and the eggs are cooked perfectly.

I will not purchase this item again.
Worked well for about 7 months. More recently it began undercooking - alarm sounds as expected but eggs are undercooked and inedible. Sharper Image won't allow replacement because warranty expired. So will look for other better products.
