This IS the way to write!
I use this specifically for writing my novel. It helps to inspire me because it isn't a computer with all the distractions. I can be in a quiet space with it and all I hear is me pressing the keys. It takes me away from the day and inspires me with my writing.

This typewriter was purchased for my 14 yr old daughter who became interested in using a typewriter to write her casual stories and poems as opposed to using the computer. She found the "clacking sound" soothing and inspirational. She was given an antique typewriter that had been restored. She loves this typewriter, but she is about to leave home to attend boarding school and became concerned about taking the antique with her. This manual typewriter through Sharper Image is a wonderful alternative. The cost was very reasonable and the quality, comparable. My daughter says that it feels a "little heavy", but I think it is due to her regular use of a lighter weight tablet.

Very Attractive
I bought this for my educational tutoring office so students could see a real typewriter. Most kids have never seen one or used the keyboard. Beyond that, it is just very attractive as a conversation piece.
